Ceramic bells have become popular as home decor, and I’m having fun with my own take on this trend. Thrown on the pottery wheel, my ceramic thrown bell forms have become one of my favorite things to make.
Ceramic Bell – Wheel Thown Bells Are A Unique Piece Of Art
Wheel thrown ceramic bell forms display beautifully when hung. While my ceramic studio has a lean toward functional pottery (with a special emphasis on Colorado nature-inspired glazes), I enjoy the break from the rigidness of dinnerware by creating these wheel thrown ceramic bells.
Handmade, Modern Aesthetic Wheel Thrown Ceramic Bells – Some Examples
The following are some examples of my wheel thrown ceramic bells. They are made of stoneware, and stoneware-porcelain blend clays. After throwing on the wheel, the forms are trimmed and I attach a handle.
After being bisque fired, the bells are then glazed using my custom, Colorado themed, hand-mixed glazes. Once they complete their final firing, the bells are then adorned with a walnut wood clapper, giving them the most amazing sound.
